The Panthers shopped almost exclusively for bargains in free agency last year, but Carolina will look to spend big money on these five players in 2021. Philadelphia Eagles Face masks

This is a franchise with a lot of cap issues (see Spotrac). First things first. Mike Kaye of NJ.com explains that while the team renegotiated new deals for defensive tackle Malik Jackson and wide receiver Alshon Jeffery in early January, NFL Network’s Mike Garofalo explains that neither player is in Philadelphia’s plans for 2021. Likewise star tight end Zach Ertz, who also doesn’t figure to be back as well (via Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network).Chicago Bears Face masks

That is, if pending free agent Kyle Juszczyk returns this offseason. Luckily, it appears the two sides are working together towards a possible new contract. However, nothing is for certain.

Since the Wentz trade (and even before, when it was obviously going to happen), I’ve said the Eagles owe it to themselves to do their homework on this crop of top quarterbacks. That’s not to say they don’t have a ton of other holes on the roster — maybe they’ll realize they’re better off sticking with Hurts — but we all know how much emphasis the Eagles put into this particular position.

Mitch (unsurprisingly) hopes to see the team add a "bull" to the left side of the offensive line. Whomever the team elects to add at receiver and tight end, and quarterback too, the playmakers will need a strong offensive line to make it all work. And while Washington got by with fill-ins like Cornelius Lucas in 2020, Mitch sees it as a position of need to add a true difference-maker at left tackle.Miami Dolphins Face masks

Regarding the deal: The trade was fair to both the Colts and Eagles. A third-round pick this year and a first-round pick in 2022 (if Wentz plays 75 percent of the snaps in Indy this year, or 70 percent and the Colts make the playoffs) means the Colts will hand the Eagles the 84th overall pick this year and more likely than not a pick in the range of 23rd overall next year for Wentz. Plus, Indy takes the risk of the contract: $96 million over the next four years, with $47.5 million guaranteed. Heck of a risk on a quarterback who failed so spectacularly, and in many ways, in 2020.

Nick Mullens and C.J. Beathard have been the 49ers’ reserve quarterbacks over the past three seasons. Mullens, who is in the midst of a six-month rehab after elbow surgery, is scheduled to be a restricted free agent. Beathard is scheduled for unrestricted free agency.Jacksonville Jaguars Face masks
