One more identifying characteristic of an cheap UA Air Force 1 shoe is a tiny medallion secured to the base of the laces but with openings on either side so that it can be removed by sliding the idea off the shoe lace. The particular medallion is engraved with all the inscription "AF-1", with the 12 months "'82" inscribed beside the item, and has historically been constructed from a silver-colored metal (perhaps pewter). Its original design and style was more circular, yet after a redesign the Air Push 1's 25th anniversary inside 2007 the medallion has become rectangular. (The redesign furthermore involved encasing the exergue in white plastic; that has been discarded in favor of the original medallion material. )
