Clean reinstall QuickBooks Point of Sale
Learn to perform a clear reinstall of QuickBooks Point of Sale.

Clean reinstallation may also be necessary to help resolve problems during installation or while running the application. Here are the steps to fully uninstall and then reinstall QuickBooks Point of Sale on your pc.

Before performing the steps below, make sure:
You’ve created a backup of one's data file.
You have your QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale download file or your installation CD.
Your License and Product Numbers can be obtained.
It is possible to check in as Windows Administrator before performing the second steps.
The computers you'll be focusing on can be found to be restarted.
Step one. Uninstall QuickBooks Point of Sale
In your keyboard, press Windows + R to start the Run window.
Enter “Control Panel”, then select OK.
Select Programs and Features.Note: In the event that control board is within Category View, select Uninstall a course.
Into the selection of programs, select QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale 18.0, then select Uninstall/Change.

Step 2. Rename all Point of Sale folders

Delete the QBPOSDBSrvUser Windows user

Select Windows Start and choose Control Interface.
Select User Accounts and select Manage another account.
Into the User Account Control window, select Continue.
Select QBPOSDBSrvUser and choose Delete the account.
Confirm the folder has been deleted.
Restart your personal computer.
Step 3. Reinstall Point of Sale
Please see Install QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale.

Step Four. Restore your business file
Note: If perhaps you were struggling to make a backup, restore the qbpos.db file located in the data folder pasted in your desktop.

Open QuickBooks Point of Sale, create an innovative new company file with all the name you intend to use, and restore the backup created.
Following the file is restored and also you have verified it will be the right collection of data, verify it is possible to close and reopen Point of Sale without errors, relate to other POS machines, and relate with QuickBooks Desktop (if applicable).
Register QuickBooks Point of Sale again.
Since QuickBooks Desktop and Point of Sale share some licensing files, ensure you can still open QuickBooks Desktop and register if prompted. Should you want to get rid of the data folder from your own desktop, move it to some other folder such as Public Documents or Shared Documents, just don’t delete it.
