So I have a Makita MAC700 compressor aprox 1.5 years old and it has been excellent until today. The motor wont start up, the motor only humns when I place the lever to on position. It has not been overheated, air tank is empty, plugged into good outlet.

The thermal overload button does not seem to be tripped, does this button have a spring loaded type of tension? The button seems loose, with no resistance when pushing it in.

Not sure where else to look?

Where can I find a good capacitor for replacement?

I wouldn't notice that the compressor is buzzing. There is always a heavy hum in my workshop. It seems to me that it is forever imprinted in the subcortex of my brain. I have several a conveyor systems for repairs running at the same time. Add to this picture two people who are constantly drilling, sawing, and soldering something. I can't listen to heavy music for a long time because of this. Any metal reminds me of the hum of my workshop. Being in silence to hear the unnatural hum of a compressor is a luxury. But sometimes just kicking it is enough. I don't recommend repeating this.
