MANDERA Ha Ha Clinton-Dix Youth Jersey , Kenya, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- A Kenyan military officer was killed and an unknown number of others injured Monday after an armoured personnel carrier they were travelling in ran over a roadside explosive in Mandera county in the northeast of the country bordering Somalia, a government official said.


Regional government official Mohamud Saleh confirmed the incident at Damasa area in Lafey sub-county which happened at around 11 am.


Saleh said the armored vehicle was being used in the construction of the Kenya-Somalia border security wall. He said the blast happened while the soldiers were on a routine patrol of the porous border.


"It's true the incident happened. I am waiting for brief from the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) on all the details. An APC ran over an Improvised Explosive Device, killing at least one personnel on board," Saleh said.


He said no arrest has been made so far, adding that more security officers have been mobilized and are pursuing the attackers.


The region is an Al-Shabaab hotspot area where security vehicles have run over explosive devices in the past.


In June last year, a Safaricom mast was destroyed by Al-Shabaab militants in a midnight raid as they flee inside Somalia.


The Somali militants have been targeting military and police vehicles either by laying an ambush or planting explosives on the road in northeast region especially in Mandera and Garissa counties.


A number of security personnel have died as a result of the landmine attacks, including IEDs placed on roadsides by Al-Shabaab militants.


Kenya is currently engaged in the fight against the militia group in southern Somalia where its soldiers under the African Union Peacekeeping Mission (AMISOM) have been registering impressive gains.

BUENOS AIRES， June 10 (Xinhua) -- Argentina and the United States will face each other in the semi-finals of the 2016 Centennial Copa America on Tuesday and it is unclear who will come out on top due to past history.


The South American team will go into the match with a bad memory whereas the U.S. will remember an unforgettably happy one from when the two clubs previously met in the soccer tournament.


The two teams have met twice before in the Copa America with a win each.


The South American side's bitter memory dates back to July 14， 1995， when the Copa America was being played in Uruguay.


In Group C， Argentina had already as-good-as made it to the quarter-finals before playing the third and final match of the group stage as they had won their two previous matches (against Bolivia 2-1 and Chile 4-0). However， the U.S. team had not been so lucky. They defeated Chile but lost to Bolivia.


Confident in their players' superiority， the then coach for Argentina， Daniel Passarella， decided to play a team mostly made up of substitute players， knowing that Argentina only needed a draw to win the group.


However， the United States surprised both themselves and the Argentine team. They beat the South American team 3-0 with goals from Frank Klopas， Alexis Lalas and Eric Winalda. This meant that the U.S. finished top of the group.


The defeat meant that Argentina had to face Brazil in the quarter finals and were defeated in penalties after drawing 2-2 after 90 minutes.


The U.S. ended the tournament in fourth place， their best performance in the continental competition to date.


Twelve years later， the two teams face each other again in Venezuela 2007 and Argentina wiped the floor with the U.S.， beating them 4-1 with two goals from Hernan Crespo， one from Carlos Tevez and the other from Pablo Aimar.


Even though the United States left the tournament without any wins， Argentina reached the final. However， once again， Brazil was their executioner. They lost 3-0 which obviously frustrated the Argentine side.


Apart from the Copa America matches， Argentina and the U.S. played each other in the first World Cup in Uruguay in 1930. Argentina won 6-1.


Two years before， Argentina had an overwhelming victory over the U.S. when they won 11-2 during the Olympic Games in Amsterdam 1928.


The teams also met in the Under-23 category during the Olympics in Atlanta 1996 when Argentina won 3-1.


The last time the two teams faced each other it was a 1-1 draw. Esteban Cambiasso and Juan Agudelo scored for Argentina and the U.S.， respectively， in the friendly match played in New Jersey.
