The new Free
5.0 has a completely redesigned upper, and the band that dug into my foot in the 2014 version looks to be gone. Given my affinity for the Free shoes and the lower price tag on this one, this is likely to be the model that Iâll pick up among the three released today. MSRP for the new Free 5.0 is $100. Update 5/18/2015: View my review of the 2015 Nike Free 5.0 here. The new 4.0 appears pretty similar overall to the previous version â looks like a slightly different lacing system and a different mesh over the midfoot region. Not sure if the differences to the upper are enough to make me splurge on a pair. MSRP for the new Free Flyknit 4.0 is $120.I never ran in the 2014 3.0 Flyknit, though I heard good things about it from a lot of runners. Like itâs predecessor, the new 3.0 is constructed like a sock attached to a sole, with slight tweaks to the upper design. Looks like a slight change in construction of the ankle collar, and a different mesh under the laces and over the forefoot. I remain intrigued by this shoe, but the $140 price tag is just a bit too high for my taste.
Nike sent me a pair of the
nike air max 90 pas cher Wildhorse 3 a few months ago (Disclosure: these shoes were review samples provided free of charge by the manufacturer), and Iâve worn them extensively since. Iâve used them casually, for hikes in the Green Mountains of VT, Shenandoah National Park in VA, Mt. Major in NH, and a few others. Iâve also put in running miles on local trails â nothing too technical, but enough to get a sense of traction and comfort/protection.Per Running Warehouse, the Nike Wildhorse 3 weighs in at 10.3 oz in menâs size 9, and has a drop of 8mm (28mm heel, 20mm forefoot). Thatâs a gain of about an ounce in weight over v2, and an addition of 6mm of stack height to the heel and 2mm to the forefoot (the Wildhorse 2 was 4mm drop with stacks of 22mm heel, 18mm forefoot).
The specs tell the tale with this update â the Wildhorse 3 is an all-around beefier shoe than v2. This might upset some fans of prior versions, but the reality is that Nike made this move to differentiate the Wildhorse and the Kiger, and the Kiger (now in v3 as well) still exists on a lighter-weight, 4mm drop platform for those who prefer less shoe. My take is that although I really liked v2 of the Wildhorse, v3 is a worthy successor and doesnât destroy the essence of the shoe. One of my areas of concern with v2 of the Wildhorse was durability of the upper, particularly in the area of the forefoot. I didnât experience any tearing in my pair, but the material appeared to be pilling/fraying a bit at the surface and I donât think they could handle hundreds of miles on the trail.
Iâll start by saying that the majority of my miles in the Wildhorse 2 have been on ice or snow covered sidewalks or on packed snow on trails near my house. There is no bare trail available up here this time of year, so I canât comment on performance on dirt or mud
nike air mxx 90 Hyperfuse Femme . However, loose snow over ice is about as challenging as it gets for traction so I think I have a good handle on how they perform. The Nike Wildhorse 2 is a 4mm drop trail shoe (22mm heel, 18mm forefoot) that weighs in at 9.3 oz in menâs size 9 (specs via Running Warehouse). I presume that the 10-14 printed on the medial sole near the heel refers to midsole heights and does not include the insole or outsole. I purchased a size 10.5, which is a half size up fro
