Application field: Tetrapropylammonium perruthenate, also called TPAP is a mild oxidizing reagent used under neutral conditions. When 4-methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMO) or other oxidants are used as co-oxidants, TPAP can be used in a catalytic amount. The TPAP and NMO combination reagent has an irreplaceable position in the oxidation reaction of alcoholic hydroxyl groups. For the oxidation reaction of substrates with acid-sensitive groups or multifunctional groups, the TPAP/NMO combination reagent is very suitable. The TPAP/NMO combination reagent can be generated in situ before the reaction, and it can oxidize primary and secondary alcohols to the corresponding aldehydes and ketones. The reaction is generally carried out at room temperature, and its high chemical selectivity does not affect many other functional groups, such as: ethylenic bond, acetylenic bond, lactone, epoxy, even acetal, silyl ether, tetrahydropyridine, etc.
