LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Dodgers starter Kenta Maeda will take the mound Saturday against a Colorado Rockies team that he has had success against over the past three years.

Colorado Rockies starter German Marquez will take the mound Saturday on the road J.T. Miller Jersey , where he has been excellent outside of the shadow of the Rocky Mountains.

Something has to give at Dodger Stadium in a nationally televised game, when Dodgers right-hander Maeda (5-4, 3.44 ERA) faces off against Rockies right-hander Marquez (5-8, 5.53).

The Rockies won the first game of the series 3-1 on Friday, and Maeda will try halt the Dodgers’ two-game losing streak.

Since returning from the disabled list after being sidelined by a hip strain, Maeda has posted a 2.87 ERA over three starts, including a scoreless seven-inning outing Monday against the Chicago Cubs when he struck out nine and picked up the win.

The nine strikeouts were reminiscent of his best stretch of the season before his injury, when he struck out 32 batters over 24 1/3 innings, including a season-best 12 strikeouts in 6 2/3 shutout innings against the Rockies on May 23.

“Ever since coming off the DL, feeling-wise, this is the best I have felt,” Maeda said through an interpreter, after holding the Cubs in check during a 2-1 Dodgers victory Monday. “Overall it was a much better feeling coming into this game than the other ones.”

Especially troublesome for the Rockies is that Maeda figures to be fresh for Saturday’s outing, having thrown just 84 pitches in his latest start. Then there is this: Maeda is 5-2 in eight career appearances (six starts) with a 2.11 ERA against the Rockies with 48 strikeouts.

Marquez has struggled lately Vladimir Tarasenko Jersey , having gone 1-4 in June with an 8.53 ERA, but there is no doubting his road success this year. He has a 7.93 ERA at home, but that mark falls off dramatically to 3.07 in 41 innings on the road. In fact, the Rockies have won four of Marquez’s seven road starts this season.

Marquez is 1-0 with a 3.91 ERA in four career starts against the Dodgers.

His two outings against them this season have been a mixed bag. On May 21 in Los Angeles, Marquez gave up one run over seven innings in a 2-1 Rockies victory. On June 2 at Colorado, he gave up four runs over six innings, although he didn’t factor into the decision as the Dodgers rolled to a 12-4 victory.

In his four starts since then, Marquez has given up at least five runs in each time. He gave up a combined 10 runs (nine earned) in his last two starts, both of which came at home.

“I know I have been in the league two years and if I execute my pitches, it doesn’t matter how long they have known me,” Marquez told reporters, through an interpreter, after he gave up six runs (five earned) on nine hits in 3 1/3 innings in an eventual 8-5 loss to the Miami Marlins on Sunday. “It’s about me executing my pitches.

Marquez will face a Dodgers team that has 54 home runs in June, the most in franchise history for a single month.

TAMPA Kevin Shattenkirk Jersey , Fla. (AP) — DeSean Jackson is eager to rebound from one of the least productive seasons of his career and help the Tampa Bay Buccaneers end a long playoff drought.

The Bucs struggled a year ago to incorporate the speedy receiver into an offense expected to be more potent after the three-time Pro Bowl selection was signed to a $33.5 million contract in free agency.

Jackson, 31, established himself as one of the league’s top deep threats over nine seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins.

He averaged a career-worst 13.4 yards per reception and scored just three touchdowns in his first year with Tampa Bay, which lost 10 of 13 following a 2-1 start to miss the playoffs for the 10th straight season.

The Cleveland Browns, who haven’t earned a playoff berth since 2002, are the only team with a longer playoff drought.

“Any time I get an opportunity to make good plays and spark this offense with explosive plays … or scoring touchdowns — whatever it is, I’m here to do (it),” Jackson said.

“Obviously last year was a disappointing year for myself and the team,” the receiver added. “I just want to be able to … give them high energy, good plays, and explosive plays.”

Jackson, who spent extra time in the offseason with Jameis Winston in hopes of improving chemistry between him and the quarterback on deep throws, enters his 11th season with 548 receptions for 9,487 yards and 49 TDs.

He’s also scored three touchdowns rushing and four more on punt returns.

“D-Jack is about 40 years old Womens Jake Gardiner Jersey , but he’s still the fastest dude on our team,” defensive tackle Gerald McCoy joked. “It’s hard for guys to run with him.”

Nevertheless, the Bucs couldn’t get the ball to him consistently in 2017.

While Winston’s favorite target, Mike Evans, continued to prosper with his fourth consecutive season with 1,000 yards receiving, Jackson finished with 50 catches for 668 yards — both lows for him in a year when he’s played at least 12 games.

And, for the first time since his rookie year with the Eagles in 2008, Jackson didn’t have a reception of at least 60 yards.

While he’s not making any bold predictions, the receiver is confident the offense will be better this fall.

“We have a lot of weapons and a lot of options for the quarterback to drop back and throw the ball to. I’m excited about that,” said Jackson, who has three receptions for 91 yards through two preseason games.

The veteran receiver thinks Tampa Bay has one of the best groups of targets in the league with himself, Evans, Chris Godwin Cam Atkinson Jersey Kids , Adam Humphries and tight ends Cameron Brate and O.J. Howard.

He also likes offseason moves that included bolstering the offensive and defensive lines, as well as drafting running back Ronald Jones.

“We have a lot more competitive players now. A lot of new additions coming from winning mentalities. They’re able to push the drive and push other guys on this team to the highest of their potential,” Jackson said.

“Obviously last year was a frustrating year for everyone that’s a part of the Buccaneers. But there’s one common goal: to go out there, put the work in, and hopefully the results show on Sundays.”

Coach Dirk Koetter said Jackson is having an outstanding training camp.

“I think DeSean has really asserted himself not only as a veteran, but as a leader,” the coach said.

“DeSean has instant street cred because of his career. … It’s a big difference if you see a guy that you respect out there doing what he’s supposed to do versus a guy that’s out there moping around,” Koetter added. “Hats off to him, he’s doing a good job.”
