Hi everyone, I'm playing around with a stepper motor I found and I'm learning how to use it. I bought an L298N driver and I can successfully connect it to my Arduino. My motor is a NEMA17 stepper motor, https://www.oyostepper.com/category-6-b0-Nema-17-Stepper-Motor.htmlBut when I try to drive it, my desktop PSU has to limit the current output because the motor draws more than 4A when stationary - and of course the L298N gets very hot too. When running, the current drops, but - and this is where I'm unsure - I thought stepper motors should be powered even when not moving to hold position, and I thought 1.33A is the current the coils draw when voltage is continuously applied. If I simply apply 24V to one coil of the motor, my PSU drops to 4A. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!
