What does a SOMA do in a neuron?

The soma, or cell body, is the spot the signs from the dendrites are joined and passed on. The soma and the center don't accept a working occupation in the transmission of the neural banner. Or maybe, these two structures serve to keep up the cell and keep the neuron valuable.
