That was exactly what happened to a Florida man who found he had the winning lottery ticket for $1 million in his pocket from the 200x The CASH Scratch-Off game, according to the Florida Lottery.
Lee Wingfield, 63, of Tallahassee, was the lucky winner and chose to receive his winnings in one lump-sum payment of $890,000.00.
At first, Wingfield thought his ticket yielded a $1,000 prize, which he was pleased with, according to the Florida Lottery press release.
"I originally thought I won $1,000, so I put the ticket in my pocket and went about my day. That night I realized my prize had a lot more than three zeros in it,” he said.
Wingfield bought the ticket from a Publix Super Market located at 2111 Northeast Capital Circle in Tallahassee - as a result the store will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the ticket.
