Reinventing one of the Swoosh’s most iconic silhouettes in one of its most beloved innovations, the Nike Air Max 1 Mens White employs a knit construction overlaid with seamless mudguard and Swoosh. The Flyknit shifts between open and closed construction to delineate the AM1’s classic paneling, keeping the aesthetics decidedly classic yet utterly modern.

Earlier this week we previewed theNike Air Max 1 Mens Footlocker, the second generation of the foam-soled, modernized AM1. It was a departure, sure, but now we have our first glimpse of the Nike Air Max 1 Ultra 2.0 SI — a mouthful and the real game-changer.

Ostensibly simple, the newNike Air Max 1 Ultra Flyknitstarts out neutral in white mesh, tonal leather and soft grey overlays. Emphasis on “starts out.” In fact, a distinctive color-shifting material is used on the leather pieces, reacting to the sun and other UV lights to transition from off-white to blue. Like the Air Max 95 Ultra Plush we previewed back in April, theNike Air Max 1 Ultra Flyknit Review Ultra Plush starts with the cored-out foam sole typical of “Ultra” editions, but that’s not even the half of it. Rather than the AM1’s standard construction, the Ultra Plush features a rugged textile upper, carving in embossed lines and borders to create distinctive imagery. Moreover, the singular style retains the iconic appearance of the AM1’s paneling, despite going largely no-sew.
