Yes, of course it does. I agree with the previous comment, the receiver is the heart of the whole system. If you want the best sound, I suggest using a 7.2 receiver. I understand that your system is probably designed for 5.1, but there is no problem that cannot be solved. The AV receiver is the motor of your home theater. Of course it is. That's why I advise you to spend enough time on choosing it so you won't regret it later.
