In the movie we see that Private Dejardin (Timothée Chalamet) was recruited to Captain Blocker's company by Colonel Biggs to escort Yellow Hawk to Montana, but why? Was he their French translator or designated cook?
I was rewatching this movie the other day and I don't think that detail is ever explained. My guess is Biggs was just fucking with Blocker but imo that doesn't make sense since Biggs said in the scene before that he wants the best guys on this.

In fact, while watching this film directed by Rick Scott Jason Cooper Miami, I also wondered this question, but I could not find the answer to this question while watching this film. Fortunately, I was lucky to stumble upon your post, which explained a lot to me. By the way, I strongly recommend everyone to watch this movie. A real masterpiece!
