WINDHOEK, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- A total of more than 1.2 million U.S. dollars towards cancer has been raised since the inception of the Cancer Apple project 16 years ago, according to Namibia's commercial Bank, Bank Windhoek, custodians of the project.


The Bank Windhoek Cancer Apple Project was established in the year 2000 to create awareness about cancer and educate Namibians to protect themselves against the illness.


This year alone the project managed to reel in 203,000 dollars in aid of the Cancer Association of Namibia (CAN).


Speaking at the handover ceremony on Tuesday, Chris Matthee, Executive Officer of Retail Banking Services of Bank Windhoek, hailed the Cancer Apple Project as one of "Namibia's biggest and most successful fundraising projects."


Riaan van Rooyen, Head of Corporate Affairs, Strategy and Sustainability, said the continued growth and success of the project can be attributed to the "hard work and dedication from all parties involved."


The project works in a way that apples are sold on a weekly basis at all Bank Windhoek branches countrywide through an order system, with some of the orders being distributed to different schools.


Meanwhile, Rooyen said the project this year sold more than 800,000 apples in four weeks. Enditem

NAROK, Kenya, March 10 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese-led organization donated Tuesday a vehicle to a conservancy in southwest Kenya to facilitate anti-poaching efforts.


Zhuo Qiang Cheap Jordan Shoes For Sale , founder of Mara Conservation Fund, said during the hand-over ceremony, that the vehicle donated to OL Kinyei Conservancy is to help the rangers' fight against poaching, as well as study the movements of big cats like lions.

Simon Nkoitoi, senior warden with the OL Kinyei Conservancy, said the vehicle comes in time.

It is not the first time Zhuo and his foundation make donations to the conservancy since its founding in 2011.

NEW DELHI, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- A high-level panel set up by India's Supreme Court to probe into last year's spot-fixing scandal in the multi-billion Indian Premier League tournament has indicted the son-in-law of the Indian cricket control board's powerful chief N. Srinivasan.
