The TOEIC Listening and Reading test evaluate the everyday listening and reading abilities in English required for employment abroad. Test questions replicate events from everyday life that are pertinent to the global workplace. A test taker's listening and reading scores from the TOEIC offer insightful feedback on their strengths and weaknesses as well as a description of the skills that test-takers at various levels typically possess.

1. Create a weekly study plan

Calculate the number of hours you have available for TOEIC preparation, allot time for a reasonable number of breaks, choose the portions of your studies you can complete on the train to work, choose your top priorities for the remaining hours, consider the times of day you are most likely to feel tired and opt for easier subjects to study, and finally, write down your weekly study schedule.

2. Read

Vocabulary is the skill you'll need most to pass the TOEIC exam, and reading is the best way to pick up new words. Although it is a good idea to look up terms in a dictionary and study them later for this, you must watch that this doesn't cause your reading speed to slow down (very important for the TOEIC reading paper). If you read an entire article, paragraph, or page rapidly while only circling or highlighting the words you are unsure about, you can improve reading quickly and vocabulary. Then, stop reading and look up the words in a dictionary. You'll also need to add the most practical words to your list of vocabulary words to learn at this point or later.

3. Set a vocabulary target for yourself

For instance, if you study 5 words per day for a year, you will be able to comprehend more than 1500 new words in English and move up a level in reading comprehension. Once you've established that goal, make an effort to learn twice as much every day to stay motivated and constantly be ahead of your target.

One of the best and most efficient ways to prepare for the actual TOEIC test is to take the free online practice test. The TOEIC online test is available wherever and whenever you choose to take it.
