The New York Jets have signed veteran safety J.J. Wilcox for depth after special teams standout Rontez Miles had surgery to repair a torn meniscus.

Linebacker Freddie Bishop was waived Wednesday to make room on the roster for Wilcox.

Wilcox was a third-round draft pick of Dallas out of Georgia Southern in 2013. He played four seasons with the Cowboys and signed with Tampa Bay last offseason. Wilcox was traded by the Buccaneers to Pittsburgh shortly before the regular season and had nine tackles and an interception for the Steelers Adidas Duncan Keith Jersey , who released him in April.

ESPN reported that Wilcox visited San Francisco but left there without signing.

Miles is the Jets' longest-tenured defensive player and a key member of the special teams unit but could be sidelined several months. He practiced during the first organized team activities session open to the media two weeks ago but was spotted last week with a sleeve on his left leg. NFL Network first reported Miles' knee surgery.
Another Dodgers pitcher has landed on the disabled list. This time, it’s rookie Walker Buehler.

The 23-year-old right-hander underwent an MRI that revealed a right rib microfracture Sam Hubbard Jersey Elite , an injury he sustained when he was hit by a 108-mph line drive by Colorado’s Trevor Story on May 21.

Buehler remained in that game and went on to make three more starts despite feeling slight discomfort. Last Friday, he was pulled after 5 1/3 innings when manager Dave Roberts spotted issues with Buehler’s mechanics.

Roberts said the start of Buehler’s DL stint was backdated and he will be available on June 19.

Buehler played catch on Tuesday to keep his arm in shape.

He has made nine starts this season Yasmani Grandal Jersey , going 4-1 with a 2.63 ERA, 54 strikeouts and 11 walks.
