He is coming over from the Oakland Raiders after spending a season at the same position and coaching alongside with Brian Callahan, Cincinnati’s newest offensive coordinator. This is Singleton’s third stop in four years in the NFL. Singleton didn’t have much to work with last season in Oakland. He did get 4.2 yards per carry out of Marshawn Lynch and Doug Martin in 2018, which all considering is pretty good. He hasn’t had a back like Joe Mixon to work with, so it should be interesting what his role will be with helping these running backs adjust to this new offense.The Bengals added Singleton after the team let Kyle Caskey go this offseason as they prepared to add Taylor when he became officially available. Caskey had been with the team since 2010. He had been the team’s running backs’ coach since 2014, and helped Mixon lead the AFC in rushing this past season. You could make the argument that Mixon’s struggles were more to do with scheme and inconsistent offensive line play.One has to wonder how this move will play out as Caskey has a pretty good track record. Not to say Singleton doesn’t, but it could’ve been nice to have experience at that position of a guy who already showed signs of success. Of course it could be that Singleton can tap even more into Mixon’s potential and find a way to better utilize Bernard in the offense.What do you think of the Singleton hire?NFL roster cuts 2018: Tracking the Cincinnati Bengals 53-man roster moves The Cincinnati Bengals have announced their initial 53-man roster.A 53-man roster must be submitted by every team to the NFL by 4:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, September 1.Simultaneously with the cut-down to 53, clubs that have players in the categories of Active/Physically Unable to Perform or Active/Non-Football Injury or Illness must select one of the following options: place those player on Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform or Reserve/Non-Football Injury or Illness, whichever is applicable. Teams can also send a player to waivers, terminate their contract, trade them, or count the player on the 53-man roster. At that time, teams must also put any players suspended for Week 1 on the Reserve/Suspended list. The Bengals will place Vontaze Burfict on this list on Saturday, he will not count toward the 53-man roster (get our latest roster projection here).The practice squad will be announced approximately at or after 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday. The Bengals can place up to 11 guys on the practice squad this year due to getting a roster exemption via the International Player Pathway Program, making German WR/TE Moritz Boehringer a freebie addition to the practice squad.
