You could use an HD box, an SD box, or anything that can output video at a reasonable resolution with a connection that the TV has.
The TV has a scaler which can scale video inputs to the native resolution of the screen. But a 4k TV, or any scaler, doesn't increase the effective resolution of the source, you cannot create resolution that has been lost, it just makes the picture bigger to fit in the screen.

Never heard of that. You`d better use a reliable set box for that. You see, I watch the news from different countries. This is possible with this mag box MAG420 https://www.infomir.eu/eng/products/iptv-stb/mag420/. This console opens up new possibilities for TV. There is news online and you can monitor the situation and be safe
