Adidas Tubular Shadow Junior Grey has a new sneaker model to set (neoprene) tongues wagging, it’s called ‘Tubular’ and it will hit shelves worldwide in four colourways on November 21. Its name derives from the outsole construction, which is inspired by inner tire tubes, while other design cues come from the Y-3 Qasa and ZX 7000. We caught up with adidas Originals’ Vice President of Global Design, Nic Galway, a key member of the Three Stripes creative lab for 15 years and the driving force behind Tubular, to find out everything you need to know about the latest sneaker to nail the holy streetwear trifecta of fashion, function and comfort. 



The latest iteration of the Adidas Tubular X Primeknit Black And White comes in a maroon ensemble as the summer season rolls through. Although not yet official, the shoe’s colorway is reminiscent of “Texas A&M” and is perfectly timed for U.S. college football season. The sneaker features Primeknit sock-fit construction, which is bound by the shoe’s structural heel strap and lace system. For this colorway, the upper is a heather gray blend of white, black, and maroon. The shoe is accented with a translucent maroon TPU cage that overlays a cream heel wrap and sits atop a cream midsole and crisp white tubular sole.rt.
Adidas Tubular Shadow Knit Brown is generally driven by heritage, but Tubular is definitely a modern take on this idea of purely ‘Fashion’ sneakers. What do you think Adi Dassler would have made of Tubular?

Adidas Tubular Radial Black is built with a slimmer silhouette, creating a more feminine look to the shoe. Adidas contrast this by using sharp edges and bold colours, giving Defiant’s an even more eye-catching look. This angular design was continued in the Tubular X range. They use bold panelling to highlight contrasting materials and colours. Both these shoes were designed for streetwear, being very popular additions to the catwalk.
