Adi was an innovator. He was the head of this great company but his heart was always in the workshop working on concepts and innovations. There was no marketing brief for the adidas tubular x black and white. It was a result of a visit to the archive and a wish to innovate sneaker design. We did not set out with the goal of creating a traditional fashion shoe, but rather to challenge the boundaries between sport and fashion. I don’t know what Adi would make of today’s world, but I am sure he would approve of adidas’ pioneering spirit.

The latest iteration of the adidas tubular womens grey Nova Primeknit comes in a maroon ensemble as the summer season rolls through. Although not yet official, the shoe’s colorway is reminiscent of “Texas A&M” and is perfectly timed for U.S. college football season. The sneaker features Primeknit sock-fit construction, which is bound by the shoe’s structural heel strap and lace system. For this colorway, the upper is a heather gray blend of white, black, and maroon. The shoe is accented with a translucent maroon TPU cage that overlays a cream heel wrap and sits atop a cream midsole and crisp white tubular sole.rt.

Early next year, adidas is expected to drop off the latest entry in the Tubular family with the release of the adidas tubular pink and black. Seen here in an initial grey colorway, Primeknit construction has of course been utilized on the upper while a sock-like bootie has been implemented to hug snugly around the ankle. An off-white sole unit plays contrast on this particular pair, which in turn welcomes tonal laces. Minimal branding is also present on the new Tubular iteration.

adidas tubular white and grey primeknit has a new sneaker model to set (neoprene) tongues wagging, it’s called ‘Tubular’ and it will hit shelves worldwide in four colourways on November 21. Its name derives from the outsole construction, which is inspired by inner tire tubes, while other design cues come from the Y-3 Qasa and ZX 7000. We caught up with adidas Originals’ Vice President of Global Design, Nic Galway, a key member of the Three Stripes creative lab for 15 years and the driving force behind Tubular, to find out everything you need to know about the latest sneaker to nail the holy streetwear trifecta of fashion, function and comfort.
