Compared to the
Raspberry Pi 3, the
Raspberry Pi includes several important improvements. First, the processor was upgraded from the Cortex-A53-based Broadcom BCM2837 to the newer Broadcom BCM2711. It uses a 1.5GHz 64-bit quad-core ARM Cortex-72 architecture. The new processor also includes a better GPU, the Broadcom VideoCore VI, clocked at 500MHz. This means that the
Raspberry Pi is much faster than the 3. The memory has also been upgraded, from 1GB, 2GB and 4GB versions to 2GB, 4GB and 8GB.
The
Raspberry Pi 4 also uses a USB-3.0 port for the first time, and the Ethernet port is upgraded to a true Gigabit Ethernet connection. The power port has also been replaced by USB-C with micro-USB, and there are two HDMI ports (both micro-HDMI) that can connect two 4K monitors at the same time.
